2022 Charity Partner: Birmingham Mind
Kang & Co Solicitors are pleased to announce that our 2022 charity partner will be the wonderful Birmingham Mind, the largest mental health charity in the region, supporting people suffering with mental health problems in Birmingham and beyond.
The charity has provided mental support to the Birmingham region for 60 years now, with 2022 being the year of it’s 60th anniversary. We have been staggered by the superb work that goes on at Birmingham Mind. There has often been a stigma that goes with mental health illnesses in the past and Birmingham Mind has constantly stood with and supported people suffering from this hidden ailment for such a long period of time.
Kang & Co Solicitors director Manjinder Kang had this to say when annoucing our 2022 charity partner Birmingham Mind;
“I think more so than ever in recent memory, it is hugely important to show support for mental health charities. The last few years have taken a huge hit on the mental health of many in our nation and many are going unsupported. With this in mind we felt that this year it is important to raise further awareness & backing towards Mental Health support. It is an honour to partner up with the brilliant people at Birmingham Mind mental health charity for 2022 on what is a significant year for the charity, their 60th anniverary.”
Kang & Co Solicitors passionately believe in Corporate Social Responsibility (CPS), helping out our communities the best way we can. Over the last few years, Kang & Co Solicitors have been committed to supporting a different charity each year. In recent years we have supported Birmingham Dog’s Home, Acorns Children’s Hospice and World Against Single Use Plastic, Sense and have raised thousands of pounds for the causes in the process. We hope to be able to support Birmingham Mind in the same way over the year ahead.
About Birmingham Mind
Birmingham Mind is the largest independent mental health charity and has been supporting people experiencing mental health problems in and beyond the City of Birmingham’s boundaries for 60 years.
We work in active partnership with a range of local organisations to deliver services and challenge the stigma that surrounds mental distress.
We provide high quality services in a variety of settings, providing person centered support to enable people to be in control of their lives.
We offer a range of services which help support people in various ways such as Supported Housing, Residential Care, Carers Wellbeing Service and our Mental Health Helpline.
The helpline is available 24/7 and provides advice and information to people experiencing mental health difficulties as well as people calling if they are worried about a friend, colleague or family member. The staff are currently taking around 500 calls per week and roughly 70 webchats per week. When the pandemic hit many of our face to face services had to close so the helpline was heavily relied upon.
Another service we offer is our Mental Health and Wellbeing Hubs. We have four hubs in operation in Erdington, Handsworth, Yardley and Northfield. Each Hub offers 1:1 recovery support planning, recovery focused activities and support to develop peer-led support networks and groups. However, we have developed the service to offer a blended mix of virtual activities and face to face support sessions to meet everyone’s needs. Each Hub offers a refreshed timetable every 6-8 weeks. For further information about the services we offer, please visit the Birmingham Mind website (which is currently being updated)Â If you know of anyone who needs some support with mental health issues or for advice for yourself, you can call our helpline any time of the day or night on 0121 262 3555.
You can offer support to Birmingham Mind via their website. We will be annoucing fundraising challenges for the charity in due time.
