“I was being investigated for a very serious motoring offence and initially had a lawyer appointed by my insurance company. I wasn’t impressed with the service from my insurance solicitors and therefore began to look for a specialist motoring law solicitor to represent me, as my liberty was at risk. When I spoke with Manjinder Kang, it was clear that he had significant previous experience of dealing with very serious motoring law cases like the one I was being investigated for. I instructed Mr Kang to represent me through my insurance company and within a few days he managed to get the case against me dropped. I would certainly recommend Mr Kang if you are being prosecuted for a very serious motoring offence.” H. Singh (Causing Death by Careless Driving)
Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP)
A notice of intended prosecution (NIP) informs a possible defendant that they may be prosecuted for a driving offence that they have committed, soon after the offence has been committed.
If you have received a NIP it does not necessarily mean that you are going to face prosecution but may act as a warning that you may face prosecution.
The NIP must be served to the driver or registered keeper of the offending vehicle within 14 days of the offence. Failure to serve the NIP within this time limit will result in the offence not proceeding at court.
If the details of the driver are not known or cannot be collated, the NIP will be sent to the registered keeper of the offending vehicle.
